Sky Battlefront in Pre-Season

Sky Battlefront first appears around the 5th week after warzone launch. Your alliance is still growing — heroes are lower level, gear is mostly purple, and rally coordination is still being learned. The core mechanics are the same, but your margin for error is smaller because your rallies deal less damage.

For the full event mechanics, see the Sky Predator Guide.

Coordination Over Power

In pre-season, rally coordination matters more than individual squad strength. A well-timed burst of weaker rallies will break a shield. Disorganised strong rallies will trigger Berserk Mode. Focus on the 5-second rule above all else.

What Is Different in Pre-Season

Weaker Rally Damage

  • Heroes are lower level with fewer skill upgrades
  • Most members have purple gear or below — rally squads are less durable
  • No Exclusive Weapons — you lack the burst damage that makes shield-breaking easier in later seasons
  • Lower tier troops mean each rally deals less total damage

Less Coordination Experience

  • Members may not understand the shield and Berserk mechanics
  • The 5-second rally window requires practice — expect some failed attempts
  • Communication channels may not be established yet
  • Token donation discipline needs to be actively managed

Token Donation Challenges

  • Newer members may not know all the daily tasks that earn tokens
  • Some members may not log in every day — participation tracking is essential
  • The 50 tokens per day target is achievable but requires awareness

Pre-Season Rally Strategy

Without Exclusive Weapons, your rally composition relies on base hero strengths:

RoleBest Available Heroes
Rally Lead DPSYour highest-damage hero — typically DVA, Kimberly, or Tesla depending on what your alliance has built
Defence ShredMorrison — his armour reduction is valuable even without Exclusive Weapons
Front-Line TanksMurphy, Lucius, or Williams — whoever is most geared. Durability keeps your rally alive longer
SupportSchuyler for stuns, or any support hero your alliance has invested in

Rally Numbers Over Rally Quality

In pre-season, you may need more rallies to achieve the same damage that fewer, stronger rallies would deliver in later seasons. This means:

  • Every capable member should be in a rally — you cannot afford passengers during the Battle Stage
  • Coordinate more rally leaders — spread the load across multiple rally captains
  • Accept that shield-breaking will be harder — plan for Shield-Break Rush rather than Pre-Shield Burst

Pre-Season Shield-Break Tips

Berserk Prevention Is Priority One

In pre-season, avoiding Berserk Mode is more important than maximising damage. Your rallies are weaker, so a Berserk-triggered airship will be much harder to take down. Focus entirely on clean shield-breaks — even if it means dealing less damage per rally cycle.

  • Time all rallies within the 5-second window — this is non-negotiable
  • Practice rally timing before the event — use alliance rallies on other targets to rehearse coordination
  • Have a rally caller — one person in voice chat or alliance chat counting down the launch window
  • If a shield appears, launch immediately — do not wait for perfect conditions. Every second counts

Pre-Season Token Donation Tips

Getting the full 75,000 warzone tokens (plus Rush Phase) is harder when your alliance is newer:

  1. Send the daily task list to your alliance — many members will not know all 8 token-earning tasks
  2. Track donations daily — identify members who are falling behind and message them directly
  3. Remind members about the Rush Phase — construction completing is not the end. Rush Phase donations buff the airship for battle
  4. Lead by example — R4/R5 members should hit 50 tokens first and post their progress

Common Pre-Season Sky Predator Mistakes

  1. Not briefing the alliance on mechanics — many members will be experiencing Sky Battlefront for the first time
  2. Skipping rally practice — the 5-second coordination window requires rehearsal
  3. Triggering Berserk due to uncoordinated rallies — this is devastating with weaker squads
  4. Low token participation — newer alliances often have members who miss days or do not complete all tasks
  5. No rally caller — without someone coordinating the launch window, rallies stagger and shields are not broken
  6. President delays platform deployment — deploy within the first hour, every time
